This is just a letter from our organization. We would like to ask the American people the question: how are we ever going to stop the decay of our country? It is still strong; how can we keep it that way? As we see all the terrible things happening around the world because of drugs, we realize that strict laws and law enforcement spending has not been sufficient to quell the tide of organized trafficking. Additional ideas and approaches to this problem are clearly necessary. Is it possible to think that we, within our family organizations, can be more efficient than law enforcement? I know that within my family, as I was growing up, I was told and shown the effects of alcohol, cigarrette smoking, and illegal drugs. I would never do that because I have personally seen the effects of it as a child. Have we, as parents, neglected to show our children with love why we do not do drugs?
Countries in Latin America are falling apart. Drugs are a major source of money. They are causing those countries to be ruled by people outside of the law. Government officials are corrupt, because they are forced to tolerate and take drug money. Militaries and all levels of law enforcement are involved, the individuals being forced to participate along with their peers under threat of death to themselves or family members. Along with that comes the destruction of society: prostitution, divorce, child abuse, and pornography. Legal businesses are suffering difficulties due to the threat of kidnappings and employee theft to support habits. Many people are dying so that we can support our habits. Our enjoyment is causing death and the destruction of society. We ask the question again: how do we stop this? We would like to ask the highest leaders of our country to speak to our youth in plain words, explaining the problems caused by drug consumption. Talk to them on television in our school organizations. Let our youth patrol themselves, encouraging their peers to stay away from illegal drugs and save our country. Explain the path the drugs take from their source to the consumer, and the trail of destruction they leave every step of the way. Make them feel ashamed that their indiscretions are causing so much harm to humanity. We can change society. As an example, cigarrette smoking has dropped dramatically, not because of law, but because people understand the harm it causes. |
