As a belated update on the environmental issues of concern to the Binational Border Solutions Task Force, the 7 August 2007 issue of El Mexicano looks forward to the March 2008 opening of a $7.7 million sewage treatment plant which, together with currently operating infrastructure, will treat 100% of the sewage from Tijuana for the next decade. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency together with Mexico's Comisión Internacional de Límites y Aguas are taking part in overseeing the construction. Funding is provided in part by Japanese investments and the EPA.
